Currently, any individual confined under a sentence of imprisonment is prohibited from voting. This bill changes that to only apply to confined individuals convicted of a felony.
Currently, individuals on probation or parole after conviction of a felony are also prohibited from voting until finally discharged. This bill repeals that prohibition.
Currently, individuals convicted of a misdemeanor or felony connected with the right of suffrage are prohibited from voting. This bill removes the prohibition for a misdemeanor.
Currently, election authorities appoint teams to deliver absentee ballots to individuals who are hospitalized, confined due to illness or injury, or confined in intermediate care facilities, residential care facilities, or skilled nursing facilities on election day. This bill adds individuals who are confined in jails to the list of people eligible for a delivered absentee ballot.
