Currently, any passenger in the front seat of a vehicle and any passenger under 18 years of age must wear a seatbelt except in certain circumstances. This bill, with certain exceptions, requires all passengers in a passenger car and all drivers of trucks as defined in Section 301.010, RSMo, to wear safety belts.
The bill repeals the prohibition that persons cannot be stopped, inspected, or detained solely to determine compliance with this provision of law.
This bill is the same as HB 227 (2023).
