HJR 77 -- TERM LIMIT MODIFICATIONS

SPONSOR: Baringer

Upon voter approval, this resolution changes the length of term for members of the Missouri House of Representatives from two to four years.

Currently, members of the General Assembly can serve no more than eight years total in any one chamber of the legislature, nor more than 16 years total in both chambers.

Upon voter approval, this resolution removes the single chamber prohibition, allowing members of the General Assembly to serve no more than 16 years total in either chamber of the legislature.

If approved these provisions begin with the general election in 2026.

This bill is similar to HJR 9 (2023).
