The following is a summary of the House Committee Substitute for HB 404.
This bill requires the Department of Transportation to remove and bury dead deer found on a road or highway or the shoulder or right- of-way that is large enough to impede traffic. The burial must be made on Department of Conservation land at a minimum depth of three feet. The Department of Conservation must reimburse the Department of Transportation for the costs associated with the removal and burial of dead deer as provided in the bill.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that these deer were originally left in place because of chronic wasting disease.
