This bill makes it a class E felony to buy, sell, or otherwise induce the trading of tissue or organs from aborted fetuses (Section 188.036, RSMo).
This bill also establishes Missouri as a Sanctuary For Life state. This means that women shall not be coerced or compelled to undergo an abortion, and that no political subdivision of this state shall enact or enforce any regulations that have the effect of discriminating against a woman for choosing not to have an abortion or undermining any of the provisions of this section.
It also requires the Department of Health and Senior Services to develop a website to provide information promoting the state as a Sanctuary For Life and providing information about the state s abortion laws and assistance provided to pregnant women and their babies.
If provisions of this section are violated, a court may order injunctive or other equitable relief and the Attorney General is also allowed to bring a cause of action to defend the rights guaranteed under this section (Section 188.127).
The Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signage affirming the state as a Sanctuary For Life , subject to appropriation, but evenly distributed throughout the state and located, at a minimum, along major highways on the state s borders (Section 227.225).
