This bill modifies the supervision ratios of pharmacy technicians to pharmacists in Minnesota. Specifically, it amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 151.102, subdivision 1, to establish that a pharmacist must not supervise more than three pharmacy technicians at any given time. The bill also clarifies that a pharmacist is responsible for all work performed by the technicians under their supervision. Additionally, it removes the previous provision that allowed pharmacies to exceed the technician-to-pharmacist ratio by one technician if at least one technician held valid certification from an accredited body.

Furthermore, the bill repeals Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 151.102, subdivision 2, which previously allowed pharmacists to petition the board for authorization to supervise more than three pharmacy technicians, provided they addressed patient care and safety in their petition. This repeal eliminates the option for pharmacists to seek waivers for higher technician ratios, thereby reinforcing the new limit established in the amended subdivision 1.
