This bill establishes the Legislative Working Group on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Minnesota, tasked with reviewing state and county demographic data to identify gaps in the availability and delivery of disability services for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The working group will consist of 18 members, including 16 legislative members appointed by the leaders of each chamber, as well as representatives from the most populous and largest geographic counties willing to participate. The group is required to meet at least monthly, with the first meeting convened by a member appointed by the senate majority leader by August 15, 2026.

Additionally, the bill mandates that the working group submit a report by January 1, 2027, detailing their findings, including an itemized list of identified service gaps across 87 counties and recommendations for utilizing demographic data in decision-making related to disability services. The bill also includes an appropriation of funds from the general fund to support the working group’s activities in fiscal year 2027.
