This bill amends Minnesota Statutes to enhance the communication between postsecondary institutions and secondary schools regarding students enrolled in dual enrollment courses. It requires postsecondary institutions to notify a pupil's school of the pupil's grades or academic progress at least twice per quarter or semester. Additionally, it mandates that institutions inform the pupil's school if the pupil withdraws from a course or is absent for ten consecutive days. These changes aim to ensure that schools are kept informed about their students' academic performance and attendance in postsecondary courses.
Furthermore, the bill introduces a limit on the number of college credits a pupil can earn through postsecondary enrollment, capping it at 28 quarter or 16 semester credits per school year. This provision is intended to regulate the amount of college credit students can accumulate while still in high school. The effective date for these amendments is set for July 1, 2026.
