This bill appropriates $958,000 from the bond proceeds fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to the Duluth North Shore Sanitary District. The funds are designated for designing, engineering, and constructing improvements aimed at reducing inflow and infiltration within the district's sanitary collection system. The project will include various enhancements such as sewer lining, pipe replacement or rehabilitation, manhole rehabilitation, and flow monitoring, all intended to mitigate the risk of sanitary sewer overflows and prevent pollution to Lake Superior.
Additionally, the bill authorizes the commissioner of management and budget to sell and issue state bonds up to the amount of $958,000 to finance the appropriated funds. The bond sale will be conducted in accordance with the relevant Minnesota Statutes and the Minnesota Constitution. The provisions of this bill will take effect the day following its final enactment.
