This bill proposes the creation of Distinguished Flying Cross special license plates in Minnesota, specifically for recipients of the Distinguished Flying Cross. The commissioner of transportation is tasked with issuing these plates to qualified applicants who are registered owners of certain vehicles and comply with existing registration and licensing rules. The application for these plates can only be made during vehicle registration renewal or initial registration, and only one set of plates will be issued per applicant. The design of the plates will feature the Distinguished Flying Cross medal and the phrase "DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS."

Additionally, the bill stipulates that there will be no fees associated with the issuance or replacement of these special plates, and they can be transferred to another vehicle without a fee, provided the new vehicle meets the same qualifications and is registered to the same individual. Furthermore, the special plates will not be subject to certain existing regulations regarding license plates. The provisions of this bill will take effect on January 1, 2027, for plates issued on or after that date.
