The previous language that restricted voting on land purchases related to organizations with which a member has a direct financial interest has been deleted, and the new provision emphasizes the need to avoid any potential conflicts of interest.

Additionally, the bill amends section 116P.18 regarding the use of trust fund money for land purchases. It clarifies that such funds cannot be used to buy land owned by the state or its subdivisions unless the purchase provides additional benefits to the state's natural resources and is approved by at least 11 commission members. The previous exception related to conflict of interest provisions has been removed. Both sections of the bill will take effect the day following enactment.
