This bill amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, specifically section 268B.01, to exempt paid on-call firefighters from the Minnesota Paid Leave Law. The amendments include changes to the definitions of "covered employment" and "employee." Under subdivision 15, the definition of "covered employment" is updated to explicitly exclude employment as a paid on-call firefighter, in addition to self-employed individuals, independent contractors, and seasonal employees.

Furthermore, subdivision 17 is revised to clarify that the term "employee" does not include paid on-call firefighters, along with other specified categories. These changes aim to provide clarity regarding the employment status of firefighters in relation to the Paid Leave Law, ensuring they are not subject to its provisions.
