This bill appropriates $150,000 from the general fund for fiscal year 2027 to the commissioner of veterans affairs for a grant to the National American Indian Veterans (NAIV). The funding is designated to support various services for American Indian veterans residing in Minnesota, including peer support outreach, staffing for Native American Veteran Stand Down events, culturally informed mental health services, cultural resilience retreats, and veteran transition and reentry support.

Additionally, the bill mandates that by January 15, 2027, NAIV must submit a report to the commissioner and relevant legislative committees detailing how the grant money was utilized, including any funds allocated for grant administration. This report is required to be filed with the Legislative Reference Library in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 3.195.
