This bill modifies the coverage of chiropractic services under medical assistance and MinnesotaCare in Minnesota. It amends Minnesota Statutes 2025 Supplement, section 256B.0625, subdivision 8e, to expand coverage for chiropractic services beyond individuals under the age of 21. The new provisions include coverage for services recommended by licensed health care professionals using accepted chiropractic standards, specifically for treating acute and chronic spinal pain and neuromusculoskeletal conditions. The bill establishes that covered services, excluding x-rays, are limited to 24 visits per year unless prior authorization for additional visits is obtained. Additionally, it specifies that x-ray coverage is limited to certain examinations necessary for diagnosing subluxation.
Furthermore, the bill repeals Minnesota Statutes 2025 Supplement, section 256L.03, subdivision 3b, which previously outlined chiropractic services covered for individuals under 21, including medically necessary exams, manual manipulation of the spine, and x-rays. The effective date for these changes is set for January 1, 2027, or upon federal approval, whichever occurs later.
