The Senate resolution honors the memory of David J. Jergenson, who was born on January 1, 1918, in Donnelly, Minnesota. He was the seventh of eleven children and worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1942, serving honorably during World War II in Algeria and Italy. After his discharge in 1945, he returned to Donnelly, married Julette Gilbertson in 1946, and later purchased a farm where they raised mink. David was recognized as "Fur Rancher of the Year" in 2012 and remained active in the mink ranching business until his retirement in 1982.
David and Julette spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona, enjoying time with family and friends, and he was known for his camaraderie at the VFW in Alexandria. He lived a long and fulfilling life, passing away peacefully at the age of 107 on March 14, 2025. The resolution acknowledges his military service, contributions to the community, and extends condolences to his family and friends, while also directing the Secretary of the Senate to prepare an authenticated copy of the resolution for his family.
