The Senate resolution congratulates the University of Minnesota Army ROTC for its remarkable achievement at the 2025 Sandhurst Military Skills Competition, where they made history by securing first place among all ROTC programs and second place overall. This prestigious competition, held annually at the United States Military Academy at West Point, is recognized globally for its rigorous challenges, and the Golden Gopher Battalion's success marks them as the highest-achieving ROTC team to ever participate in the event.
The resolution acknowledges the leadership of Captain Jamieson Barnes and Master Sergeant Ivan Krestyn, who guided the battalion to this unprecedented victory, as well as Cadet Charles Frattalone for his exemplary role as team captain. In recognition of their service and accomplishments, the Senate expresses gratitude to the University of Minnesota ROTC and directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare an official copy of the resolution to be sent to the battalion.
