This bill amends the existing appropriation for drought relief as outlined in Laws 2022, chapter 95, article 3, section 6. It allocates $300,000 from the general fund for the fiscal year 2022 to the commissioner of natural resources to address well interferences confirmed by the Department of Natural Resources that occurred between April 30, 2021, and December 31, 2021. This funding is available until June 30, 2026.

Additionally, the bill provides $5,000,000 for the fiscal year 2023 to the commissioner of natural resources for the replacement of drought-killed seedlings on lands managed by the Department of Natural Resources. This funding will also support grants to Tribal, county, and private forestland owners for similar purposes. Notably, the bill allows for the purchase of seedlings from the private market to ensure an adequate supply, and it extends the availability of these funds until June 30, 2029, instead of the previously stated 2027.
