This bill mandates that school districts in Minnesota provide instruction aimed at advancing critical thinking skills for students in grades 9 to 12. Specifically, the instruction must explore the relationship between scientific facts regarding sickness, disease, pain, suffering, and death in the context of complex living organisms, as well as the perspective that these experiences are consequences imposed by a Creator. This new requirement is codified under a proposed section in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 120B.
The bill also establishes an effective date for this new instruction requirement, which is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
