It specifies that, between July 1, 2025, and July 1, 2028, telehealth will include communication between a health care provider and a patient that consists solely of audio-only communication. The bill also outlines the requirements for health care providers to document telehealth services, including the type of service, time of service, and compliance with established criteria for delivering services through telehealth.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that telehealth services will be reimbursed at the same rate as in-person services and allows for audio and visual communication to satisfy face-to-face requirements for certain health care facilities. The effective date for these changes is set for July 1, 2025, or upon federal approval, whichever occurs later. The commissioner of human services is tasked with notifying the revisor of statutes once federal approval is obtained.
