This bill amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 340A.404, subdivision 1, to authorize cities to issue on-sale intoxicating liquor licenses to licensed cosmetology salons. The new legal language specifies that cosmetology salons are added as eligible establishments for such licenses, alongside existing categories like hotels, restaurants, and sports facilities. The previous provision that included resorts is retained, but the language indicating that resorts are the only new establishments eligible for these licenses has been deleted.
Additionally, the bill includes provisions that allow cities to issue on-sale liquor licenses to theaters and convention centers, as well as to owners of summer collegiate league baseball teams for events at ballparks. The effective date of this amendment is set for the day following its final enactment.
