The bill also clarifies that if an assessment is not completed within the required timeframe, documentation of the delay and planned completion must be recorded. Additionally, it updates the qualifications for treatment coordination providers, requiring specific training in substance use and co-occurring disorders, and allows for a broader range of qualified individuals to provide treatment coordination.

Furthermore, the bill directs the commissioner of human services to conduct a study in consultation with relevant boards to evaluate and recommend amendments to eliminate limitations on licensed health professionals' ability to provide substance use disorder treatment services within their scopes of practice. A report on the findings and recommendations is to be submitted to legislative committees by January 15, 2027.
