This bill amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 500.215, subdivision 1, to prohibit any restrictions on the display of certain flags by owners or tenants of residential properties. Specifically, it declares that any deed restriction, subdivision regulation, restrictive covenant, local ordinance, contract, rental agreement, or homeowners association document that limits the right to display the United States flag, the National League of Families POW/MIA flag, flags of any branch of the United States Armed Forces, or Blue Star and Gold Star Service flags is unenforceable.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that the term "homeowners association document" encompasses various governing documents of both common interest communities and residential communities. The new provisions will take effect the day following final enactment and will apply to all limitations described, regardless of when they were adopted, unless specifically exempted in subdivision 2 of the same statute.
