The bill directs the commissioner of Minnesota IT Services to fully integrate the transit assistance program, which is currently administered by Metro Transit, into the Minnesota benefits web portal by December 31, 2025. This integration will be carried out in consultation with various stakeholders, including Metro Transit and the commissioners of transportation, human services, and children, youth, and families. Despite the integration, Metro Transit and the Metropolitan Council will continue to process applications for the transit assistance program.
Additionally, the bill includes an appropriation of funds from the general fund for fiscal year 2026 to support the integration of the transit assistance program into the Minnesota benefits web portal. This financial support is intended to ensure that the integration process is completed effectively and efficiently.
