The bill proposes an appropriation of $2,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 2026 and 2027 from the workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development. This funding is designated for a grant to Summit Academy OIC, aimed at enhancing various educational and employment initiatives in the Twin Cities and across Minnesota.

The grant will support the expansion of student enrollment, employment placement, and program access, as well as the enhancement of GED preparation and administration, and STEM programming. Additionally, it will facilitate the establishment of a dental assistant program, which includes efforts to enroll students and collaborate with employers for job placements upon successful program completion.
