This bill appropriates $3,000,000 from the bond proceeds fund to the city of Little Canada for the establishment of a school supply distribution and educator resource center aimed at supporting underserved students and teachers throughout Minnesota. The funds will be managed by the commissioner of employment and economic development, who will provide a grant to the city for the acquisition of property necessary for the center. Additionally, the city is authorized to enter into a lease or management agreement for the operation of the center, in accordance with existing state statutes.
To finance this appropriation, the bill mandates that the commissioner of management and budget sell and issue state bonds up to the amount of $3,000,000, following the procedures outlined in Minnesota Statutes and the state constitution. The effective date of this section will be the day following its final enactment.
