This bill amends existing legislation regarding boathouse leases at Soudan Underground Mine State Park in Minnesota. It allows the commissioner of natural resources to either lease or sell boathouse sites upon the expiration of existing leases, as opposed to the previous requirement to offer a new lease to the current lessee. The bill removes specific conditions related to lease terms, transferability, and pricing, which included stipulations such as the lease being valid for the lifetime of the lessee and limited to two legal-age lessees. Instead, the commissioner now has the discretion to lease the property under the terms of Minnesota Statutes, section 92.50, or to sell the property outright.

Additionally, the bill mandates that the commissioner must issue a written receipt for each lease payment and requires the commissioner to engage with U.S.X. Corporation and local governments regarding the inclusion of specific lands within the Soudan Underground Mine State Park. This engagement aims to expand the park's boundaries by considering various sections of land located south of Vermillion Lake and north of trunk highway No. 169.
