The bill proposes an appropriation of $4,000,000 from the bond proceeds fund to the Metropolitan Council for a grant to Dakota County. This funding is designated for the construction of outdoor recreation accessibility and inclusivity improvements at Thompson County Park. The improvements include the development of an immersive nature play area, picnic and gathering spaces, enhancements for park entrance safety and wayfinding, a ravine overlook, and upgrades to accessible trails.
Additionally, the bill authorizes the commissioner of management and budget to sell and issue state bonds up to the amount of $4,000,000 to provide the necessary funding. The provisions for the bond sale will follow the guidelines set forth in Minnesota Statutes and the Minnesota Constitution. The bill will take effect the day after it is enacted.
