The bill amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 142B.41, by adding a new subdivision that allows aides to supervise children in licensed child care centers under specific conditions. According to the new provisions, aides may substitute for teachers during morning arrival and afternoon departure times, provided that this time does not exceed 25 percent of the center's daily operational hours. To qualify for this role, aides must be at least 18 years old, have worked at the center for a minimum of 30 days, and have completed all required preservice and first-90-days training for licensing.
This amendment is intended to provide greater flexibility in staffing child care centers while ensuring that aides meet certain qualifications to ensure the safety and well-being of the children. The new regulations will take effect on July 1, 2025.
