This bill amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 97B.001, to modify trespass laws by allowing the use of purple markings as a means of indicating property boundaries. A new subdivision is added to define "forest land" as land with at least ten percent tree cover that will reach a height of 13 feet at maturity and shows evidence of natural tree regeneration. The bill also updates existing language to include "marked" alongside "posted" in the context of prohibiting entry onto private or public land without permission.

Additionally, the bill specifies the requirements for using purple paint marks to indicate property boundaries, including dimensions, placement height, and visibility. The marks must be placed at intervals of no more than 100 feet on forest land and 1,000 feet on other types of land. The bill also clarifies that individuals may enter unposted or unmarked land to retrieve wounded game without prior permission, provided they leave immediately after. Lastly, it instructs the revisor of statutes to renumber a related subdivision for clarity.
