This bill amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 126C.05, to enhance the process of reenrollment for students who have withdrawn from school. It introduces a new requirement for school districts to notify the Department of Education when a student is dropped from the roll due to absences exceeding 15 consecutive school days. The notification must include the student's most recent contact information, and the school is also mandated to reach out to the child's family to encourage reenrollment in the school's programming.

Additionally, the bill establishes a new subdivision that assigns the Department of Education the responsibility of facilitating the reenrollment of students who have been unenrolled. Upon notification from a school district, the department must inform the family of available county and community resources to support the student's return to school, as well as their rights to reenroll and explore other educational opportunities. This section, along with the notification requirement, is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
