This bill amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 97C.315, subdivision 1, to allow anglers who possess a walleye stamp validation to use additional fishing lines. Specifically, the bill permits these anglers to use two lines for fishing in open water and four lines when fishing through the ice.
In addition to this new provision, the bill retains existing regulations that allow for the use of two lines for ice fishing and in designated areas of Lake Superior, as well as in the Minnesota River downstream of the Granite Falls Dam and the Mississippi River downstream of St. Anthony Falls. The deletion of certain phrases clarifies the updated rules regarding the use of fishing lines.
