This bill amends current law to allow the Crane Lake Water and Sanitary District to reduce its board of managers from five members to three, contingent upon approval from the related governing body. The bill specifies that once the board is reduced to three members, any vacancies that arise will not be filled until the board is at the three-member threshold. After reaching this number, vacancies will be filled as necessary to maintain the three-member board.
Additionally, the bill outlines the process for assigning newly elected board members to staggered terms to ensure that no two members have terms expiring in the same year. The terms for board members will begin upon the expiration of the previous terms and will last until the first business day in January of the third calendar year thereafter. The effective date of this legislation will be the day after the governing body of the Crane Lake Water and Sanitary District and its chief clerical officer fulfill the requirements set forth in Minnesota Statutes.
