This bill appropriates $8,000,000 from the bond proceeds account in the state transportation fund to the commissioner of transportation for the Progress Parkway project in the city of Eveleth. The funds will be used for various purposes including predesign, design, engineering, environmental analysis and mitigation, land acquisition, construction, and reconstruction of the roadway, which will involve intersection improvements and realignment from U.S. Highway 53 and St. Louis County State-Aid Highway 142 to Trunk Highway 37 and Station 44 Road. This appropriation is in addition to a previous allocation for the same project.
To finance this appropriation, the bill authorizes the commissioner of management and budget to sell and issue state bonds up to the amount of $8,000,000. The bond issuance will be conducted in accordance with existing Minnesota statutes and constitutional provisions. The effective date of this section is the day following its final enactment.
