This bill amends Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 124E.20, subdivision 1, to modify the general education revenue calculation for charter schools. It establishes that general education revenue must be calculated as if the charter school were a district, incorporating various allowances and adjustments. Additionally, for charter schools that operate extended day, extended week, or summer programs, the revenue is increased by 25 percent of the statewide average extended time revenue per adjusted pupil unit.
A significant addition to the law is the introduction of safe schools aid specifically for charter schools, which is set at $36 per adjusted pupil unit for the school year. This aid must be reserved and used for purposes defined in section 126C.44, subdivision 4. The bill also renumbers the existing provisions, with the previous subsection (c) being deleted and the new safe schools aid provision being inserted as subsection (c).
