This bill appropriates a total of $1 million from the arts and cultural heritage fund for county fairs in Minnesota, with $500,000 allocated for fiscal year 2026 and another $500,000 for fiscal year 2027. The funds are designated for grants to county agricultural societies, aimed at enhancing access to the arts and education, as well as preserving and promoting Minnesota's history and cultural heritage as represented in its county fairs. The grants will be distributed equally among the 95 county fairs and are in addition to existing aid provided under Minnesota Statutes, section 38.02.

The commissioner of agriculture is tasked with developing criteria and guidance for the grant-making process, ensuring that the funding supports projects and events that foster access to the arts and highlight the state's agricultural, historical, and cultural heritage. The commissioner is also required to seek input from all interested parties to inform the grant distribution process.
