This bill amends existing legislation regarding boathouse leases at Soudan Underground Mine State Park in Minnesota. It allows the commissioner of natural resources to either lease or sell boathouse sites upon the expiration of existing leases, replacing the previous requirement to offer a new lease to the current lessee. The new provisions specify that the commissioner may lease the property under the terms of Minnesota Statutes, section 92.50, or sell the property outright.

Additionally, the bill removes several specific conditions that were previously tied to the renewal of leases, such as the lifetime term of the lease, restrictions on transferability, limits on the number of lessees, and the maximum lease amount based on market rates. The commissioner is also tasked with contacting U.S.X. Corporation and local governments to discuss the inclusion of additional lands within the state park boundaries.
