This bill appropriates $15,000,000 from the bond proceeds fund to the Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota for the design and construction of suicide prevention barriers on the Washington Avenue Pedestrian Bridge located on the Twin Cities campus. The Board is required to consult with individuals affected by suicide at this location, as well as suicide prevention organizations and experts, to ensure the project effectively addresses the issue.

Additionally, the bill authorizes the commissioner of management and budget to sell and issue state bonds up to the amount of $15,000,000 to fund this appropriation. The provisions for the bond sale will follow the guidelines set forth in Minnesota Statutes and the Minnesota Constitution. The bill will take effect the day after it is enacted.
