This bill appropriates $8,000,000 from the bond proceeds fund to the commissioner of public safety for a grant to the city of Lakeville. The funds are designated for the design, construction, furnishing, and equipping of a regional public safety training center, which will serve first responders in the southern portion of the Twin Cities metropolitan area and surrounding regions. The facility will feature various training areas, including physical and virtual spaces, tactical training rooms, a firing range, classrooms, and meeting areas. This appropriation is in addition to a previous allocation made in Laws 2023, chapter 72, article 2, section 6, for similar purposes.

To finance this appropriation, the bill authorizes the commissioner of management and budget to sell and issue state bonds up to the amount of $8,000,000, following the procedures outlined in Minnesota Statutes and the Minnesota Constitution. The effective date of this section is set for the day following its final enactment.
