The bill directs the commissioner of human services in Minnesota to develop recommendations for covering community violence intervention services under medical assistance. Specifically, the commissioner is tasked with considering the integration of hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIPs) into existing state plan benefits, home and community-based waiver benefits, and potential services available through a Section 1115 Demonstration Project.
Additionally, the commissioner is required to submit a report by January 15, 2025, to the relevant legislative committees. This report must include the recommendations, an initial fiscal estimate for each recommendation, and draft language for any necessary legislation to implement these recommendations. The provisions of this bill will take effect on July 1, 2024.
