A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money for mental health services and
outdoor activities for law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical
services personnel.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

$250,000 in fiscal year 2024 and $250,000 in fiscal year 2025 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of public safety for a grant to Hometown Hero Outdoors,
a Stillwater, Minnesota-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to fund outdoor recreational
activities and mental health services for current and former law enforcement officers,
firefighters, and emergency medical services personnel to promote positive mental health
and interaction with mental health service professionals, to promote longevity and quality
of life through outdoor activities and mental health services, including but not limited to
public education, and to ensure longevity to the organization to continue supporting persons
who have served in these professions.
