This bill establishes new requirements for medication regimen reviews and medication practices at assisted living facilities in Minnesota. It amends existing statutes to include specific provisions for the contents of resident records, which now must include documentation of medication regimen reviews alongside other health-related information. Additionally, the bill mandates that a pharmacist conduct medication regimen reviews for residents who request or receive medication management services, with reviews required at significant changes in condition and at least quarterly. The findings from these reviews must be documented and shared with the resident's attending provider.

Furthermore, the bill requires assisted living facilities to offer medication regimen reviews to residents who are not currently receiving medication management services, documenting their decisions in resident records. If consent is given, the review will follow the same procedures as those for residents receiving medication management. Lastly, the bill mandates annual reviews of medication practices by a pharmacist or nurse to ensure compliance and improve medication management within the facility.
