The bill appropriates $6,500,000 from the general fund for fiscal year 2024 to the commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to WE WIN Institute, Inc., a nonprofit organization. The funds are designated for the acquisition and improvement of property in Minneapolis, aimed at providing academic, social, and culturally specific programming, as well as food services for Black students. The bill allows WE WIN Institute, Inc. to enter into agreements with other nonprofit organizations to facilitate programming within the facility. This appropriation is a one-time allocation and will remain available until the project is either completed or abandoned, in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642.
Additionally, the bill includes a provision stating that it will take effect the day following its final enactment.
