The Minnesota Senate has passed a resolution congratulating Abdirahman Kahin, the CEO and founder of Afro Deli and Grill, for being named the 2023 Minnesota Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. This prestigious award is given annually to outstanding small business owners who exemplify the spirit of entrepreneurship and contribute to the vibrancy and innovation of the nation's small business landscape. Kahin's Afro Deli and Grill, which opened its first location in Minneapolis' Cedar-Riverside neighborhood in 2010, offers a unique fusion of African, Mediterranean, and American cuisines and has successfully expanded to four locations in the Twin Cities.

The resolution highlights Kahin's commitment to filling a gap in the local food scene and his dedication to blending business, community, and culture through his restaurant. He will be recognized during the National Small Business Week awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., where one state winner will be selected as the National Small Business Person of the Year. The Minnesota Senate commends Kahin for his achievements and wishes him continued success in his business endeavors. The resolution will be officially prepared and transmitted to him by the Secretary of the Senate.
