This bill amends the Michigan Vehicle Code by introducing new definitions and regulations concerning micromobility devices. It defines a "micromobility device" as a one or more wheeled device designed for a single operator, which can be propelled by fuel, battery, or a combination of propulsion methods, explicitly excluding bicycles, electric bicycles, and mopeds.
Additionally, the bill mandates that manufacturers or distributors of micromobility devices must affix a label indicating the device's top speed and motor wattage in a prominent location, using Arial font in at least 9-point type. It also prohibits tampering with or modifying the device in a way that alters its motor-powered speed capability without replacing the label accordingly. The enactment of this bill is contingent upon the passage of related legislation.
