This bill amends the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act by modifying Section 207 to establish new regulations regarding land use and short-term rentals. It specifies that a zoning ordinance or decision must not completely prohibit the establishment of a land use when there is a demonstrated need for that use within the local government or surrounding area, unless there is no suitable location for the use or it is unlawful. Additionally, the bill prohibits local governments from adopting or enforcing any ordinance that entirely bans short-term rentals.

The bill also defines "short-term rental" as per the existing short-term rental act. Importantly, the enactment of this amendatory act is contingent upon the passage of related legislation, specifically Senate Bill No. ____ or House Bill No. 6026 from the 103rd Legislature.
