The bill amends the Social Welfare Act of 1939 by adding a new section, 14n, which mandates the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to monitor bridge card transaction data for extended out-of-state usage. Specifically, if the department finds that an individual's Michigan bridge card has been used outside of Michigan for more than 90 consecutive days, it is required to suspend that individual's bridge card.

The suspension of the bridge card will remain in effect until the individual contacts the department to verify their continued residency in Michigan or their eligibility for benefits, in accordance with federal law. This measure aims to ensure that benefits are only provided to eligible residents of Michigan and to prevent misuse of the bridge card system.
