The bill amends the existing child care regulations under 1973 PA 116 by adding a new section, 16a, which mandates that, starting June 1, 2028, operators of child care centers or group child care homes must maintain records of up-to-date immunization rates for both children and staff. Additionally, child care centers that care for more than 12 minor children are required to provide detailed information regarding the immunization status of the children to their parents or legal guardians. This includes the total number of enrolled children, the number of children with documented immunizations, those exempt from vaccinations, and the overall vaccination percentages.

Furthermore, the bill stipulates that this immunization information must be publicly accessible; it should be posted on the child care center's website, if available, and displayed in a prominent location within the center. The information must also be communicated to parents via email or mail, depending on the contact information the center has on record. The bill emphasizes the importance of converting personal information into deidentified and aggregated data to protect privacy. The enactment of this amendment will take effect 90 days after it is signed into law.
