The bill amends the Skilled Trades Regulation Act by updating the procedures for responding to citations issued by the department. It specifies that a respondent has 30 days to notify the department in writing whether they accept the conditions of the citation or do not admit to the alleged violation. If the respondent accepts the citation, they must return it along with any required fines or materials, which will then be recorded by the department. If no further disciplinary actions are taken within a specified period, the citation will be removed from the respondent's records.
Additionally, the bill introduces provisions for the automatic removal of citations related to failure to complete continuing education. Starting January 1, 2026, such citations will be removed from a person's record after a set number of years or if the individual provides proof of completing the required education. Furthermore, individuals whose citations are removed will have the right to represent that no citation exists regarding the subject matter of the removed citation.
