The bill amends the Skilled Trades Regulation Act by updating the procedures related to citations issued for violations. It establishes that a respondent has 30 days to notify the department in writing if they accept the conditions of a citation or do not admit to the alleged violation. If the respondent accepts the citation, they must return it along with any required fines or materials, which will then be recorded by the department. Additionally, if no further disciplinary actions are taken within five years, the citation will be removed from the respondent's records, and they can request to include a one-page explanation in their files.

Furthermore, starting January 1, 2026, citations related to failure to complete continuing education will be automatically removed from a person's record after a specified period, or upon proof of completion of the required education. Individuals whose citations are removed will have the right to represent that no citation exists regarding the matter that has been expunged. This bill aims to streamline the citation process and provide a clearer path for individuals to clear their records after fulfilling educational requirements.
