The bill amends the Revised School Code by adding Section 1526c, which mandates the development and provision of resources to support professional learning related to cultural competency in schools by June 1, 2027. These resources must cover various topics, including the value of diversity, cultural identity, key historical contributions of various ethnic groups, and implicit bias training developed with expert input.

Starting with the 2027-2028 school year, all educators and school personnel who interact with students will be required to undergo training in cultural competency using the newly developed resources or comparable existing resources. Additionally, the Department of Education may provide instructional materials related to the history of diverse ethnic groups in accordance with state social studies content standards.
