The bill amends the Michigan Vehicle Code by adding a new section, 803v, which allows individuals who have served in the United States Armed Forces Reserve or any branch of the Armed Forces during Operation Inherent Resolve to apply for a special registration plate. This plate will feature a vignette and the inscription "Operation Inherent Resolve" beneath the registration numbers. The application process will require proof of active duty during the operation, but it will not necessitate a service fee.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that the Secretary of State must issue one or more special registration plates for each qualified applicant, including provisions for disabled individuals to receive a disability tab for their plate. The special registration plates will expire on the vehicle owner's birthday, and renewal will not require a service fee or proof of active duty. The bill also defines "Operation Inherent Resolve" as the U.S. military operation that commenced on June 15 in Iraq and Syria.
